Model number of the unit is the Kssc48qXs. WE also spend another dollars a year ago to repair the ice maker. All together this will end up costing us 15K for a unit that should last more than 5 to 6 years or at least should have parts for them to repair it. They are even willing to offer us the newest version of their unit. It's now been a month without a refrigerator that cost us 9K to be offered a unit at their cost without any consideration of what we have been dealing with all this time. We have now been trying for a week to get the person responsible for our case with no response to move forward. 2 weeks to file a report and get a call back for a prorated exchange of $6500 to replace our 6 year old unit with a unit that is new but an Old Version. It took 2 visits to determine this by certified Kitchenaid partners. They no longer make the CPU to repair it. Our 48" refrigerator has been down for 30 days. Unanswerable questions: How can 3 new doors that have spent time on my refrigerator have the same problem? How can a new door leave the factory without being tested? How can an engineer at KitchenAid send parts out that are impossible to install by the service company? What's wrong with my ice maker? I can't wait to purchase a non-Whirlpool washer & dryer. We replaced our Kitchen Aid Dishwasher with a beautiful LG. We replaced a high end 36" electric cook top, the first thing I did was cross KitchenAid/Whirlpool off the list. In the meantime I have remodeled my kitchen. ![]() I am retiring in about 3 years and hope to have this issue resolved by that time. Thankfully I saved my old plastic ice trays from our old refrigerator. Customer service is assessing the situation. After 3 doors and 6 service calls I have asked for a replacement. I have been told that my refrigerator has been certified unrepairable. My patience & understanding was exhausted months ago. I have talked to customer service at KitchenAid 20+ times and all I get is I have to be patient & understanding through this process. I used to love KitchenAid but I will not buy one more thing made by them or recommend them. We are stuck with the appliances for a while. The warranty is only for a year so now after spending over $5,000 less than two years ago, we have to pay to get it fixed. It has been making loud noises and the freezer is not keeping items as cold as they should be and the ice maker stopped working. We have a French door with the freezer on the bottom and ice/water in the fridge door. The replacement didn't work also and needed to be replaced! Five weeks later, we finally got a replacement range that worked. Within a matter of months, the range wouldn't work property. I always thought KitchenAid was a good company with good products. We bought all KitchenAid: microwave, range, dishwasher and fridge. My husband and I bought all new kitchen appliances about an year and a half ago. Can anything be done to force KitchenAid to replace this obviously defective product? If silicon sealant fixes this defect, why don't the display/floor models have it on them? I also called RC Willey, the place of purchase and where I also purchased a five year warranty and expressed my issues. The freezer seals installation, or seal design, or seal installation, or structure alignment, or something else was defective and that I was not in favor of applying silicon sealant to fix a manufacture defect. My position: I expressed to the repair tech and to the factory trouble call reps that silicon sealant is not a permanent fix. ![]() Repair tech said the seal looked good and, based on his experience, the factory fix was to put silicon sealant on the fridge to seal any seams or gaps. It's strange and frustrating that they aren't making a replacement gasket in white, but a lot stranger and more frustrating that they offer a so-called replacement that isn't the right size.ġst warranty call to KitchenAid 10-22-14 recd appointment for 10-27-14. We returned it, with a letter (one copy sent with the return, the other mailed directly). It came it was exactly like the one ordered by the repairman- just a little too short. We researched and found the gasket online, but also talked to a KitchenAid rep who agreed we'd found the right one, so we ordered it. It was about 1/4 inch too short in the length. We contacted a repair person, who collected the $95 price and ordered from KitchenAid a new gasket, but KitchenAid no longer offers it in white (like the original) so we had to accept grey. In this instance, the flange on the right-hand door became torn simply from opening and closing the doors. The gaskets on the doors include, at the lower inside edge, a flange.
